What if your symptoms are a manifestation of an energy leak somewhere else in the chain, placing excessive physiological stressors on your spine?
WE MUST ASSESS GLOBALLY
For example- in the sagittal plane (movement forward and back like a saw), loss of hip extension in gait due to tightness of hip flexor, will produce increased amounts of extension to the lumbar spine producing compression to the joints of the lumbar spine. Additionally,(stay with me) loss of dorsiflexion (movement of toes towards shin) of the ankle in the push off phase of gait will initiate early activity of the hip flexor. This will also produce increased amounts of extension to the lumbar spine and producing compression to the joints of the lumbar spine. We must not just look at the pain, we must assess the body to see why or where the dysfunction is coming from.
